Insurer Bennetts is the UK's number one for motorbike insurance and insures 200,000 bikers in the UK and Northern Ireland. Established in 1930 by Gordon Bennett, the business has over 80 years’ experience in the insurance industry and over the last decade has become one of the fastest growing insurance providers in the UK and Northern Ireland.
The continued growth of the business – they provide competitive quotes to over 600,000 bikers a year, over half of the biking population – and the recent acquisition by Saga led to Bennetts needing to move away from their previous platform, ideally to a new platform that would be flexible, offer predictable cloud cost model to suit the seasonal nature of its business and be supported by an innovative technology partner with strong service management capabilities. Bennetts was the first motorcycle insurance specialist to launch its quote and buy facility online back in 2000, and runs the successful Bike Social motorcycle web community and online motorcycle store Bike Nation.
Additionally any move would also require the infrastructure transition to deliver ‘business as usual’ for Bennetts, whose website handles over 7 million visitors per year. As Jeff Weston, IT Director at Bennetts explains. “A project such as this requires a very strong combination of service, solution and technical capability in order to ensure a smooth transition for Bennetts internally whilst providing business as usual for our customers.” Adding. “We are also working to some demanding timescales for the transition - we’re enjoying working with the team and are confident we’ll hit the milestones together.”
After looking at the market Bennetts chose Adapt’s application Habitat to host their infrastructure services and key applications including the business-critical aggregating service, call centre application BBIS, quoting engine and pricing applications.
