DoToday do today with ElasticHosts and Cohesive

A new collaboration between vendors Cohesive Networks and ElasticHosts helps Swedish website DoToday expand their events and recommendation solution globally

Cohesive Networks today announced the success of their joint connectivity solution with public cloud provider ElasticHosts for shared customer, DoToday. The solution uses both ElasticHosts’ cloud infrastructure and Cohesive Networks’ VNS3 connectivity product to scale their events sharing service.

Swedish Website and recommendation engine DoToday, allows people to search for activities, events, and local recommendations and is aimed at both tourists and locals with information delivered by email or SMS.

“We currently focus on 3 cities in Sweden,” said Johan Fredholm, CEO and Co-Founder of DoToday. “We have big plans to expand to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, Canada, and the US. While traffic is manageable today, we need to build our system to scale seamlessly, maintaining high uptime for rapid growth.”

ElasticHosts recommended that DoToday use VNS3 to connect their servers together with a private network between ElasticHosts clouds in Sydney, Dallas, and Amsterdam. VNS3 allows DoToday to manage private IP addresses to allow their MariaDB, Hazelcast, and Elasticsearch to replicate across Elastichosts data centers. DoToday’s database clusters in Sydney can now quickly connect to and replicate data to their data base servers in Amsterdam, thus improving their high availability and failover capabilities.

“I needed secure connectivity between my servers in three ElasticHosts data centers and VNS3 gives me a good option to scale up as demand increases,” said Mr. Fredholm.

VNS3 enhances ElasticHosts’ infrastructure as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings with overlay networking features for the application level. As part of ElasticHosts’ ecosystem, VNS3 helps shared customers build on networking features to improve network interoperability, connectivity and customer control. By integrating network functions in VNS3, ElasticHosts customers can benefit from increased flexibility, control and connectivity in the public cloud.
