Box gets the top spot with Gartner

File sharing and collaboration business, Box, is named as a leader in the first-ever Gartner Magic Quadrant for enterprise file synchronisation and sharing

Box announced that it has been positioned as a Leader in Gartner’s first-ever “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing (EFSS)” and Box is the only cloud-based provider among the four leaders (Citrix, EMC, Accellion) and no doubt it’s also going to be a real help to the forthcoming IPO.

Box was evaluated among 19 vendors in the market based on 15 criteria including their completeness of vision and their ability to execute on that vision.

In the report, Gartner states that, “Leaders provide mature offerings that meet market demand. They have demonstrated the vision necessary to sustain their market positions as requirements evolve.” Moreover, “Leaders typically possess a significant, satisfied customer base and enjoy high visibility in the market.”

According to Gartner, “EFSS refers to a range of on-premises or cloud-based capabilities that enable individuals to synchronize and share documents, photos, videos and files across multiple devices, such as smartphones, tablets and PCs.” Gartner adds that, “Security and collaboration support are critical capabilities of EFSS to address enterprise priorities.”

In 2013, Box received the highest rating possible of “Strong Positive” in Gartner “MarketScope for Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing” and was positioned as a Leader in the “The Forrester Wave: File Sync and Share Platforms, Q3 2013.” Box was also named the only “Champion” in the Info-Tech report, “Vendor Landscape: Cloud File Sharing.”
