Manchester-based cloud computing and data centre business DataCentred has partnered with file and share sync solution Storage Made Easy (SME), to provide customers in the public sector with complementary SaaS and IaaS solution delivered under the UK government’s G-Cloud platform.
The partnership sees the two UK-based businesses working together to deliver a secure file sharing alternative for government and educational bodies through a user-friendly interface with the expected secure governance and compliance controls.
The joint solution puts Storage Made Easys converged storage infrastructure solution which is normally hosted in Amazon S3 into DataCentred’s Open-source-based and G-cloud approved cloud infrastructure. Creating a solution that allows users to get the advantages of a G-cloud approved solution that helps them avoid the “cloud sprawl” which occurs when Shadow IT and the file and sync needs of the enterprise don’t meet.
The current SME system allows users to monitor, secure and audit all their data silos – SME currently supports 45+ Public, Private, SaaS, data clouds - from a single access point, and helps separate sensitive corporate and non-sensitive employee information apart.
As Jim Liddle, CEO of Storage Made Easy, explains.“With 70% of CIOs citing cloud data security as a major concern, it has never been more important for businesses to have full control over their information. Our IaaS solution has been tested and validated to work on DataCentred’s cloud in order to provide secure, reliable and responsive file storage for users.”
