City Network expands to two data centres in the United States

Nordic IaaS provider City Network launches City Cloud, the OpenStack-based IaaS, in Los Angeles and New York data centres

One of the fastest growing European infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers, City Network continues their global expansion with launch of two US data centres for their OpenStack-based City Cloud solution.

The expansion follows an increase in demand from customers who need to store data closer to their end users in the US market for legal and cultural reasons. Launched in 2009 and OpenStack-based since 2014, City Networks IaaS City Cloud is already available from several locations in Europe and has 25,000 customers worldwide.  City Network finished the transition to OpenStack in all their data centres earlier this year and the demand for the OpenStack IaaS platform is increasing steadily.

By launching City Cloud in the US, City Network claims to be the first IaaS provider to offer multiple OpenStack-based data centres the US and Europe. Additionally City Networks offers full redundancy within in the US and to Europe if they wish.

“We are now first in the world to offer OpenStack in multiple data centres in each of two continents. The fact that we can offer the capability of full redundancy in both Europe and in the US enables our customers to create secure and always available services from the ground up, says Johan Christenson, CEO of City Network.
