HP has announced the general availability of its HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 enterprise-ready cloud solution. The new iteration announced back in June is an integrated open source infrastructure as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering, and incorporates new features and functionality. Additionally HP has also announced the availability of a purpose-built hardware solution in the new HP ConvergedSystem 700 platform, a workload optimised infrastructure purpose-built for the HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0.
One of the key problems many organisations face when moving legacy applications and creating new cloud-based applications is there are no single solutions to do both tasks – until now. CloudSystem 9 is a single solution from HP that incorporates both HP Helion OpenStack software and Cloud Foundry to allow organisations to do both with the same tool.
Speaking to CCi HP’s Paul Morgan, HP Helion EMEA Category Manager said “with HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 businesses can create private and public cloud solutions and have the ability to move the workloads around and burst to the public cloud.” Adding the solution provides a “faster time to solution and faster time to value for businesses that need to show a return on investment in 6-12 months and not the traditional 2-3 years.”
The HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 development environment can be integrated with existing IT investments to move legacy applications to the cloud, as well as to develop and deploy cloud-native applications using multiple development languages.
Additionally the HP Cloud Service Automation management tools within HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 enable IT to manage and deploy mixed private and public cloud environments including, Microsoft Azure, AWS, HP Helion Public Cloud, HP Helion OpenStack and VMware, as well as providing the ability to move workloads between AWS and users datacenters using HP Helion Eucalyptus. The solutions are also delivered on a range of different operating systems and hypervisors, including Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat KVM and VMware ESXi.
HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 can be deployed as standalone software supporting a multiple vendor hardware environment or via
the HP ConvergedSystem 700 hardware solution which delivers the OpenStack and Cloud Foundry technology on a fully-integrated blade-based or hyper-converged infrastructure with HP ConvergedSystem. HP claims enterprises can deploy a hybrid cloud environment in as few as two days with the ConvergedSystem 700.
