Abiquo delivers hybrid cloud workload mobility

Written by

The latest version of Abiquo introduces new features to move workloads across data centres, Azure and AWS and to capture and duplicate public cloud settings to onboard workloads into Abiquo data centres.

Cloud management businessAbiquo, has launched the latest version of its cloud management platform – Abiquo 3.6 – with new features to help businesses move workloads between on-premises and public cloud environments, and onboard existing public cloud deployments.

Previous versions of Abiquo already featured migration between hypervisor types in the same data centre but the new upgrade offers the ability to move machine images between data centres or to a compatible public cloud. The new feature is limited to exporting multi-disk templates to other data centres managed by Abiquo, as well as single-disk templates to public cloud regions in Amazon Web Services and Azure.

The new onboarding cloud feature in Abiquo 3.6 allows users to “capture” a set of elements from the public cloud into Abiquo’s virtual data centre, including virtual machines and network, firewall and load balancer configurations.

Other enhancements include improvements to user workflow, improved performance and access to additional regions when using Azure, support for Clustered Shared Volumes with Hyper-V and more. And with all other Abiquo features, the ability to move images is controlled through the Abiquo API for full automation.

Commenting on the new features Ian Finlay, COO of Abiquo said. “The hybrid cloud features within Abiquo 3.6 allows you to take control; you pick the relevant parts for your business and manage it all through one orchestration platform, rather than multiple platforms. Instead of having more to manage, everything will be under the one system.”
