File collaboration and sharing business Box and Salesforce have launched new tools to allow Salesforce users to get easy access to Box, and for developers to build Box into their Salesforce applications.
The new Salesforce Files Connect for Box will enable Salesforce users to search, browse, access and share Box files via any device, while maintaining the existing access permissions and security of the original file. Developers get Box SDK for Salesforce, a toolkit to enable developers to leverage Box content management within any app built on Salesforce App Cloud. The SDK also allows developers to embed Box's content management functionality into Salesforce processes and customisations and is currently available for free on Github for developers.
“As companies are becoming more mobile, social and connected, it is critical that anyone can instantly access the information they need, no matter where it is stored,” said Nasi Jazayeri, executive vice president of Community Cloud, Salesforce. “With Salesforce Files Connect for Box, files are available in context, exactly where they are needed -- attached to an opportunity, a marketing campaign, a case or any object.”
Salesforce Files Connect for Box is currently in pilot with select customers and is expected to be generally available in Summer 2016. It will be available via the Lightning Experience, Salesforce1 and the Aloha User Experience. Pricing will be announced at the time of general availability.
