US cloud platform builder Vlocity launches into Europe

Written by

San Francisco based Vlocity comes to Europe with new offices in London, Milan, Paris and Cologne and announces a raft of European customers including Sky, Swisscom Fastweb, Wolters Kluwer, Old Mutual and Mercedes Benz Insurance Services

US cloud business Vlocity has seen triple-digit European growth over the past year in Europe and has kicked off an aggressive expansion program to handle the growth including new offices in four European cities, and 20+ industry partnerships.

With the opening of new offices in London, Milan, Paris and Cologne, the business now has ten offices in Europe and has signed up a growing number of key European customers including Sky Italia, Fastweb, Wolters Kluwer, Old Mutual, and Mercedes Benz.

For those not familiar with Vlocity, the business takes Salesforce and pre-configures it for particular industries (currently communications and media, public sector, insurance and health insurance) and specific roles. This pre-configuration claims to save organisations months on customisations and thousands on consultancy and build-fees and gives organisations a turn-key platform for sales and service enablement and analytics with tools to produce desktop, mobile and wearable apps.

David Schmaier, CEO and Founder of Vlocity claims the growth in Europe was always part of the plan for the business. "When we launched Vlocity, we made the strategic decision to be a global company from the beginning."  Adding as "Our success in EMEA validates the incredible demand for industry-specific solutions in the cloud.“ and is yet another proof point that Salesforce and Vlocity together are driving the next major wave of superior sales and service enablement."

As Schmaier suggests, Vlocity is not just a Salesforce reseller. Last April, Salesforce led a $42.8 million strategic equity investment in Vlocity, and two of Vlocity’s board members were previously Salesforce Directors, and out of the four new EMEA directors three are ex-Salesforce including; Dominic Dinardo, Managing Director of Vlocity EMEA, who was Global SVP Sales Engineering for Salesforce, Vijay Sood, Director of Professional Services, EMEA, was formerly Director of Solutions Delivery for Salesforce, and Ed Butterworth, Regional Vice President EMEA who previously led regional activities for Salesforce.
